The automotive supplier "Delphi", specialized in the manufacture of the bundles electrical cables, estimated at nearly 3,500 jobs its needs for skilled manpower in the development of its activity in Tangier for the year 2008. 

These numbers correspond to the needs of his unit “ Delphi Automotiv Systems Maroc” based in Tangiers since 1999 with 2289 new jobs, and its new factory" Delphi Packard Maroc "under construction in the zone of Tangiers, covering an area of 60 ha which will require for its first step a 1152 employees.

At a work meeting with the Minister of Employment and Vocational Training, Jamal Aghmari, the general manager of Delphi Morocco, José Carlos Jimenez, said that the needs of both units are also of 37 engineers, 930 operators (logistics, purchasing, human resources) and 259 supervisors.

The local responsible of Delphi said that the new unit, which will be operational, next August, will employ, ultimately, more than 3,000 workers.

Mr. Jiminez has focused on “the direction of recruitment policy implemented by his group to the objectives of the National Initiative for Human Development (NIHD), its compliance with the provisions of the Labour Code, and promoting a healthy social climate in partnership with social organizations.”

At the meeting which was attended by delegates from regional vocational training and employment promotion, those responsible for human resources of the company have reviewed their recruitment strategy based on the pre - hiring and explained the needs of the equipment of a qualified workforce.

They reported some difficulties concerning the requirements of workforce that overtake the vocational training capacity for the fiscal year 2008, the need to respond to fluctuations of the demand of the workforce implemented according to the pace of production. In addition, the need to alleviate the leaving of massive hotel workers, particularly during Christmas and summer holidays.

Recently in Rabat, a memorandum agreement was signed between the Moroccan government and the U.S. group Delphi to install its new unit in the free zone of Tangier for a total investment of 300 million DH.

With this new project that is added to the first factory, covering an area of 70,000 m2 and employing over 5,000 people, Delphi Moroc becomes the largest manufacturing automotive components in Tangier.

Delphi Moroc, whose clients include the leaders of the automotive industry, generates an annual turnover of 100 million euros.
 Major wiring Delphi, whose initial company based in Michigan in the United States, employs 170,000 people in 36 countries throughout the world, achieved a turnover of 26.4 billion in 2006.

At this meeting, the Minister of Employment met with local vocational training and employment promotion on the training strategy development in the region to meet the needs of the dynamic economic strength.

Crescendo needs ranging from the perspective of opening up vast zones of Tangier-Med project which will house in particular the mega-project of the group Renault-Nissan.

Of a global investment of 350 million euros, the industrial complex Renault-Nissan will be one of the largest sites of the automotive industry in the Mediterranean basin. The project, which will be located on an area of 300 ha in the Special Economic Zone of Tangier-Med project, will have a production capacity of 200,000 vehicles per year, rising eventually to 400,000 units per year, and will generate 6000 direct jobs and 30,000 of indirect jobs.
